1) Reiki uses the Universal Energy and channels it through the practitioner to reach you to where you need healing the most. 

2) Reiki doesn’t follow a specific religion or spiritual path. It respects all beliefs, working for the highest good of every person, animal, or plant that receives it.

3)Reiki will go to where you need it the most, which may not always be where you want it the most. Because of this, it may not always treat first the area of your main concern. For example, Reiki may not cure your cancer or other major ailments, but instead may focus on improving your emotional mindset so you feel more motivated, more hopeful, or stronger with dealing with it, or it may help minimize unwanted side effects from your medical treatments.

4) Reiki respects the free will of the recipient, which means that it will only reach you if you feel open to receive it and give your consent to the practitioner.
Your consent will be needed for treating pets and kids (up to 18yrs old). Every adult in your family needs to give their own consent to receive Reiki.

5) Reiki works at both physical and emotional level. It helps clearing any energetic imbalances in your body, which usually reflect as anger, anxiety, sadness, or aches.

6) Reiki is by no means a substitute to medical treatments or prescription medicines. Are there any side effects?

Most people experience restful sleep the first nights after a Reiki session. They may also feel a frequent urge to pee.
Other mild and temporary reactions, although rare, may also occur such as rashes or digestive issues. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but in rare occasions they may last a few weeks. Do not worry, as Reiki only works for the greatest good of everyone.

The Reiki practitioner is only a conduit for channeling the healing energy of Reiki to the client. Since the living force energy is everywhere around us, and its source is in the Universe (God, Creator, or Spiritual Source), it can be accessed from anywhere.
